A: Our apartment search service is 100% free. There are no hidden costs or fees to you. Urban Lux's relocation specialists have listings for the best luxury rentals in the heart of Chicago.

A: Apartment owners pay us a fee for bringing them qualified apartment renters.

Q: Why should I use your free apartment finding service?
A: First, we'll save you a considerable amount of time, especially if you are new to the area. Not only can we help find the best Chicago neighborhood for you, we can match your specifications to the exact luxury apartment you're looking for.

A: Many apartments allow pets. Since every community and individual landlord have their own pet policies, our relocation specialists can help find the pet-friendly apartment right for you.

Q: When should I begin looking for an apartment?
A: We recommend starting 45-60 days prior to your desired move in date. In the City of Chicago, renters have 60 days prior to the expiration of their current lease to decide if they want to renew the lease or not, which is why we recommend waiting to begin your search no sooner than 60 days before you want to move.

Q: Does Urban Lux have any properties that are not listed on the website?
A: Yes! The website includes only a small fraction of apartments and condominiums available. Only our featured properties are listed on our website. After contacting a relocation specialist, we will provide you with a comprehensive array of available apartments that meet your requirements.

Q: What do I need to apply for an apartment?
A: Here is a list of things that you'll need:

  • Two most recent pay stubs (or if you are self employed, last years tax return)
  • Current and previous landlord phone and fax number
  • Current and previous employer phone and fax number
  • Driver's license or passport for photo identification

Q: If I live out of town and can't come to view the apartment myself, can you still help me?
A: Of course! Our agents are experts when it comes to matching clients with the perfect apartment. We'll walk you through the entire process and will make sure the transition into your new home is as effortless as possible.

Q: What should I bring with me to my appointment?
A: A photo ID, and a camera come in very handy. You'll also want to bring your check book so that you can reserve the apartment once you find the perfect one.

For Landlords

Q: How much does it cost to list my condominium with Urban Lux?
A: We charge 10% of the lease value, which is common in Chicago.

Q: How is Urban Lux paid?
A: Upon securing an interested and qualified tenant, Urban Lux collects the full first month's rent payment. The landlord then collects subsequent months' rents as normal.

Q: How does your service work?
A: Our Relocation Specialists assist in matching your property with qualified tenants. With an already established client portfolio, we can rent your vacancy as quickly and seamlessly as possible.

Q: How will you be showing my property?
A: We recommend that Owners provide us with a set of keys (including a transponder if one is required for access), so agents are able to offer flexible showing rimes to prospective renters. Owners who choose not to provide keys must be able to meet our Relocation Specialists at the building, or must provide alternative arrangements such as leaving keys with the doorman or providing access through a lock box.

Q: I'm a condo owner. What do I need to do differently?
A: Many condominium buildings have fees associated, approval processes, specific move-in dates/times, etc. Each condominium building is unique, so be sure to check with your condo association to obtain a list of requirements. Our goal is to create a smooth transition between the landlord and tenant, and we are careful to inform our renters of exactly what is expected and required of them.
